Patrizia Casaccia, MD PhD is a physician, neuroscientist and yoga teacher (MindAsana Yoga and Wellness). Her work is internationally recognized for the focus on neuroepigenetics, which is the way lifestyle and nutrition affect the expression of our genes in the brain, and for her findings related to neuroprotective strategies and myelin repair with an emphasis on multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and anxiety. Patrizia has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles, reviews and book chapters and spoken at conferences all over the world. Due to her medical background and work-related experience with people suffering from physical disabilities, she became drawn to the idea of making yoga accessible to all. Inspired by the teachings of Jivana Heyman, Jillian Pransky and Aadil Palkhivala, she developed a unique style of yoga, which she offers to private clients and group classes at Pure Bliss Yoga. The practice may help to feel more grounded and peaceful, encourage breath awareness and promote greater flexibility. These seeds, if cultivated, may have powerful implications with long terms effects by altering the ways genes are expressed in our brain cells and therefore result in transformative changes which can help preventing neurodegeneration and promote healthy aging.
